Ice Cream Anybody?

This wonderful spell of fine weather has us all reaching for something to cool us down. Our sixth class students in Mr Beehan's Class were inspired by the good weather to have a creative Science lesson this week. They tried their hand at making ice cream. By all accounts it was a very successful lesson although, there was no evidence left behind!

5-a-side Soccer Champions

Our sixth class boys became Westmeath 'Large Schools' 5-a-side soccer champions yesterday, having come through two very tough days of matches. Along the way, they played Educate Together N.S., Gainstown N.S., Presentation N.S., St. Mary's N.S.  from Athlone, and finally, it all came down to the last game against St. Etchen's N.S. in a winner takes all scenario. Our boys went two nil up before St. Etchen's pulled two back to level the game. After half time, St. Colman's took control and slotted two more past the St. Etchen's defence to run out 4-2 winners on the day. This is a huge achievement and we are very proud of our players for the way they represented the school. Next stop is the North Leinster Finals in Navan at the end of April. Fingers crossed for another victory!

As part of their studies on Africa, the students in Mr Beehan's Sixth Class were treated to a Sudanese cooked dessert from their classmate Noon Abeltaiff yesterday. She kindly prepared a dish called Ligaemat, which is a deep fried dessert commonly enjoyed in Sudan. A huge thank you to Noon for all her hard work. Her Ligaemat went down very well indeed.
