Party Time

The children from our second classes had a very busy day yesterday as they celebrated their First Holy Communion with their families, but there was still plenty in store for them today! They arrived in school this morning in all their finery. They attended Mass in St Paul's Church and received Communion for the second time. When they returned to the school, it was time for the official photographs to be taken. Afterwards, the boys and girls changed into their party clothes and headed to the school hall, where food and drinks awaited them. As you would expect, they had no trouble devouring it all! The children really enjoyed themselves and it was a fitting end to their First Holy Communion celebrations!

Bear Snores On

'Story time' has always been a firm favourite in our infant classes. The boys and girls in Mrs Gavin's Junior Infant Class are reading 'Bear Snores on' by Karma Wilson at the moment and they love it! In the story, a host of different animals and birds visit Bear's cave to warm up. But even after tea is brewed and popcorn is popped, Bear just snores on! The photos below show some of the children with their 'sleepy bear' which they made during their Art lesson.

Great Ireland Run

Lucy Creevy from Mrs Fagan's/Mrs Brennan's Second Class loves to run. Yesterday she took part in the Mini Garmin Great Ireland Run, which took place in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. Holly ran 1.5K in a great time and I'm sure it's just the first of many such events that she'll take part in. Well done Holly!

5-a-side Soccer Champions

Our sixth class boys became Westmeath 'Large Schools' 5-a-side soccer champions yesterday, having come through two very tough days of matches. Along the way, they played Educate Together N.S., Gainstown N.S., Presentation N.S., St. Mary's N.S.  from Athlone, and finally, it all came down to the last game against St. Etchen's N.S. in a winner takes all scenario. Our boys went two nil up before St. Etchen's pulled two back to level the game. After half time, St. Colman's took control and slotted two more past the St. Etchen's defence to run out 4-2 winners on the day. This is a huge achievement and we are very proud of our players for the way they represented the school. Next stop is the North Leinster Finals in Navan at the end of April. Fingers crossed for another victory!
