Victorious Loman's Visit

St Loman's  claimed a 1-16 to 0-15 win over Tyrrellspass at Cusack Park on Sunday in the County Senior Championship final. They last won this title 50 years ago. We are proud to say that many of the players are St Colman's past pupils. Some of the team paid us a visit yesterday with the Flanagan Cup, much to the excitement of the children. As the weather was good, the entire school gathered in the playground to congratulate the team. Children from Mrs Walters 2nd Class held banners that they made especially for the occasion. The players gave freely of their time and were happy to chat with the children and pose for photographs. I think they inspired quite a few of our younger students and St Loman's might have a few new members next season!

Past Pupils pay a Visit

p1020821It's always good to hear from our past pupils and today we welcomed back Megan Ennis, Roisín Clinton and Emma Derham. The three surprise visitors are members of the Westmeath Ladies U14 Football Team. The girls are proud of their recent victory in the Leinster Final against Dublin. They then went on to beat Tyrone in the All Ireland semi-final. Yesterday they played in the All Ireland final in Crettyard, Co Laois but unfortunately were beaten by a strong Waterford team. Congratulations girls and we wish you continued success in your sporting endeavours.

Presentation of Medals

At 1.45pm today, students from first to sixth class gathered with school staff in the playground to see the girls Camogie and Football teams receive their Cumann na mBunscoil medals. The medals were presented by past pupil, Ms Aileen Martin. Aileen was captain of the first team from St Colman's to win a Cumann na mBunscoil title in 1998 and is currently the captain of the Westmeath Ladies Football Team. First to receive their medals were the Girls Camogie Team who won the title this year, then it was the turn of the Girls Football Team who were runners up in their competition. Congratulations to all the girls and their coaches.

Over 350 children took part and afterwards they were all given a goodie bag, while all the teachers and mentors received some very welcome coffee and sandwiches.

thanksAs usual St Loman's organised their facilities for the event and thanks goes to Mr Rodney Martin and all at St Loman's for their help. Thanks to all the schools who participated and we hope you all enjoyed the day representing your school.
