North Leinster Soccer Final

Yesterday, our boys' soccer team travelled to MDL Grounds, Navan to take part in the SPAR FAI Primary School 5-a-side competition. The team performed well and qualified for the C Cup final. Unfortunately they came up against a very strong team from Dunboyne and finished as runners up. Well done lads!

Soccer in St Colmans National School

On May 4th two girls soccer teams from both 6th classes travelled to AIT in Athlone for a school soccer team tournament. 17 girl’s teams from all over Westmeath took part in it. There were two groups and the winner of each group went into the final. We had two teams; team A and team B. Unfortunately team B didn’t manage to get through to the final but team A did. We played the Gaelscoil in the final and we beat them 2-1
The following week Wednesday 11th May we travelled to the MDL grounds in Navan. There we played the champions of Meath, Louth and Longford in the North Leinster final. We won all three of our games .We were then through to the Leinster schools final. The next Thursday 19th of May we went back to the mdl grounds in Navan where we played teams from Dublin Wexford and Kildare. In our first game we played St. Oliver plunketts from Malahide. In the first half unfortunately St. Oliver Plunketts scored 3 goals .So by the second half even though we managed to score a goal to make it 3 – 1 it  just wasn’t enough to win the game. That had been our first loss since the 4th game. In our second game we played a team from Wexford. We beat them 5-0 which brought us to our last game against Presentation Maynooth who we beat 5 – 2. In the end we came second in Leinster which was a great achievement.

Team A: Orla Gavin, Roisin Clinton, Shauna Mears, Niamh Nolan, Honor MacNamara, Sarah Burke and Sophie McKinley.
Team B – Eimear Garvey, Nicole Naughton, Nicole Nolan, Kayleigh Matthews, Emma Moore and Sally ElSheik
