Public access defibrillator now located in St. Colman's thanks to fundraising efforts

21st Feb 2024

St. Colman's NS is delighted to inform the school community and local residents that a public access defibrillator has been installed at our school following a fundraising effort that started earlier in this academic year.
The seed for the project was sown when volunteers from Mullingar First Responders visited the school last term to provide basic First Aid training to students. The Students Council subsequently held a Halloween Dress-up fundraiser as a thank you gesture for the team but, on hearing of Mrs Walters' goal of securing a defibrillator for the school, they gifted back the 524.35 euros to kick-start the fund. The Lunch Bag, the company that provides the children's hot school lunches, offered a further donation which made the purchase of the defibrillator possible. It is located outside the main school door in a well lit, accessible and CCTV monitored location for use by anyone in the local area in the event of a person suffering a sudden life-threatening incident. Mr. Beehan and Mrs. Walters extend thanks to the donors who made it possible.
