3D Printing Projects
It's been a busy few weeks for the children in 6th class. We took part in the Táiscéalaí 2024 3D printing Sustainability Challenge.
This involved working in small groups to come up with a problem that could be fixed or improved, using a 3D print as a solution. For example some tables in our classrooms were unsteady because 1 table leg is not level with the floor. The children designed a prototype to put under the table leg to stop it wobbling. The children used an app called Tinkercad to make a 3D print with the same measurements as their prototype. When we 3D printed these our problem was solved.
We created and printed book stands, book marks, pen holders, a Finger Football game, a coat hook, goal post holders, game counters. We also fixed a pair of broken glasses.
We presented our projects in the Mullingar Park Hotel on Tuesday. It was an incredible experience for the kids and one we hope they will always remember.
We are so proud of all of the children. They have been so creative and hard working. Their projects were amazing. They are a credit to our school. Well done everyone!
