Capacity and Volume Investigations
30th May 2024
This week 6th class were learning about calculating the volume of various 3D shapes. Our students used their knowledge of capacity to measure water levels before and after dropping 3D shape models into containers. The children were at the peak of their experimental powers discovering the volume of cubes, cuboids, spheres and tetrahedrons, just to name a few! Following the experiment they brainstormed and generated a suitable formula that they could apply to any shape they had chosen.
The children had great fun trying to predict the volume of different shapes as well as making a splash or two!
