Science Week in 6th 🧬🔬🥼🧪
Science Week 2024 has been and gone, but Sixth Class have had a terrific week taking part in different Science activities.
First, we were given the challenge of designing different bridges to hold different weights. We first looked at different real life bridges such as Truss bridges and Arch bridges to determine what style of bridge we would like to replicate. We then designed our own bridge based off this information and decided on which materials suited our needs best. We then made and tested our bridges to see how strong and flexible they were. We recorded our results and some even held over 10kg!
Another activity for Science Week was making our own lava lamps. We used oil, water, food coloring and some Alka Seltzer tables to kickstart our reaction. We enjoyed seeing the process of the reaction speeding up and slowing down as more tablets were used.
What a great final Science Week in St. Colman’s N.S.!
