World Book Day
10th Mar 2024
Third class pupils had a busy day today celebrating World Book Day. They started the day by participating in a World Book Day webinar with well know Irish author Louise Flanaghan. She read extracts from some of the books she has written to date and showed the class illustrations of some the characters they meet along the way. She also showed the children lots of different props she uses throughout her stories to keep the children engaged. The children agreed that it was a very enjoyable webinar and many of the children said they look forward to reading some of her books in the near future.
To follow up the children read extracts from their favourite books for the occasion and introduced us to some of their favourite authors. Some children brought in props to accompany their chosen books which added great interest within the class. Overall, it was a very successful day and here's hoping the initiative continues to spark enthusiasm and excitement in the children to pick up a new book and foster a love of reading! 📚
